BTX catalog

The catalog, which was created in Quark, is being made into a pdf for distribution both on CD and download on the website.

First I make each chapter in pdfs. I want only the items on the page, not the full bleed. I want RGB because this will be (for the most part) viewed on computer, although full size printing is possible. I'll then make it easy to navigate, putting in book marks and hyperlinks. And I want a small size that is backward compatible down to Acrobat Reader version 4.

In Quark I choose File>Export>Layout at PDF. Then in the dialog box click Options button; Hyperlinks: deselect Hyperlinks; Job Options: deselect Subset all fonts, Downsample color images to 150dpi; select Compress Text and Line Art; Output: select RGB and Page Items Only.

Do this for all 180 pages, then in Adobe Acrobat Professional 6.0.2 (the creator program, not merely the reader). Go to File>Create PDF>From Multiple Files, and browse over to the newly created PDFs of the chapters. Let Acrobat do it's thing, then check that all the chapters are in proper order, adjust if necessary.
