Catalog workflow
I haven't written much about the catalog I'm working on. There's 3 of us on the team: Mark, Misty & I. Mark heads it up, presents me with all the changes that were discussed in meetings, like taking product out, putting product in, arranging product in new ways, and making final decisions. Mark has good people skills, nice to work with, open to new ideas (read: my ideas), and has a general fairness that makes him a good manager. Misty is a delight to work with: she's young, fun, quick, and bright.
The work flows something like this: Mark gives me the changes, or sits down with me to do changes on the spot. If changes require new photography, I give Misty a list of parts. Misty gives the list to the warehouse, logging what parts she gets from them. Then either Misty or I do photography. The digital shots are put into the G5, then I choose the best shots, either alone or with Misty and/or Mark. The picks are then pathed in PhotoShop by me or Misty. If by Misty, then I transfer it to her computer, then she transfers it back, using drop boxes. Then I save jpegs into a general "New Photos '05" folder, as well as saving a tiff into the folder I'm working from. Misty takes the parts back to the warehouse. We've taken over a thousand pictures so far, of course we're only using hundreds of those, as we take several shots of each product & only pick the best shot.
Last night we worked until 9pm. We're trying to work late one night a week to get the catalog done on time.
