Day 12

At Sea

William & I awoke to rough seas. 12' high waves, with 12' low troths tossed us, up & down sickeningly.

I gave him a chewable children's dramamine & I took the Meclizine (Bonine) from the dispensary. After a few hours, we worked up the nerve to breakfast at the Windjammer. It was about 10:30 when we got there & they closed from 11-11:30 to switch over to lunch. We ate lightly & sat a while.

The bonine made me so sleepy! My eyes felt like lead.

Beth took the kids, presumably to a lecture on the planets, but they dilly-dallied over cartoon network for so long, that it didn't happen.

Hank & I went to a bridge lecture given by Bob, who w met at the service. It was to be held in Cloud Nin on deck 13, but a wedding reception was being held there instead. A lady invited us to her suite on deck 10. This was a balcony suite. Doorbells outside, kitchen, seating are, wall of glass doors to balcony with deck chairs, we could seat 16.

Although I was interested in the lecture on defensive playing, I could barely keep my eyes open. Damn bomine! Wish I took half! Well, at least I wasn't sea sick.

Back to Windjammer for a light lunch (why push my luck?) I lost Hank, but sat with a lovely older lady, a rich widow from the upper East side (ka-ching), obviously had 'work' done, in Victoria's Secret outfit, going to Arizona when she gets back.

Back to the room for another nap.

Day 10

At Sea

William got me up early to eat breakfast. We went to the pool after. Eventually meeting up with most of the gang.

I took the 3 kids to the lecture "Killer Asteroids: I guess size matters after all!" Which the kids seemed to enjoy, especially when they passed around meteorites to hold & feel. Fun!

I took the kids up to poolside & met up with Beth, the folks & the big kids. Then Eli took the kids to see "Blades: the Ice Challenge" at Studio B.

Beth & I finally enjoyed our pina coladas at poolside, & soaked in the hot tub, too. Then we went to find Eli & the kids at 4, and got into the poolside games, actually competing against each other as team captains. Fun! We tied for second place & chose our swimmers to race each other, my guy was a teen with a stitched lip from an ice skating accident: alphaalpha alpha: the code for medical emergency. My guy was also a water polo player and was trained to swim competitively & do a flip a the opposite side.

We all met up again, & dressed for dinner.

At dinner, the captain announced that the ship had turned around, because a passenger had a stroke & had to be medically evacuated.

I felt so bad for the man with the stroke, which should be treated as soon as possible for optimal chance of recovery, minutes matter, and here we were 5 hours back to meet the coast guard. What a bad way to start the New Year.

Earlier, Beth & Eli had looked at our shop's progress on the TV, and saw the arrow pointing south, and concluded that this mush have been a mistake.

But at dinner the captain announced that, as we might have noticed, we were headed south to meet the coast guard to evacuate a passenger who was ill. The evacuation would take place at 10pm and we can watch on CCTV (closed curcuit).

Our cabin face the heloport, which is also the forward observation deck, so we invited everyone to come there.
