Dropped my course

I withdrew from my on-line college course, because with all my other priorities (f/t job, 3 kids, running a household, adjusting to the move) I wasn't able to do all the reading, researching, and writing that doing well in this course requires.

I feel ambiguous: sad and relieved. The kids & DH say they're not disappointed in me. They're being very supportive.

One of my personal philosophies is that you can have it all, but maybe not all at the same time.

Other stuff

My MIL had her surgery & is doing well, thanks! Biopsy was negative.

Busy night last night. We went to the HS band chili supper. (Still can't get used to how midwesterners say supper for dinner) Loads of fun! The kids marched in Halloween costumes & generally cut loose, and don't they deserve it after winning all those trophies!

Afterwards we saw Elvis Costello in concert at WIU. It was a great concert, but we didn't get to meet him, because we had William with us, and he was all in. My friend, Alison got to meet him. (see her blog: http://forgotonia.blogspot.com/ )

Chandelier

I'm so excited! I bought this chandelier on Ebay. so now you have to picture the red & buff painted walls, with the dining room set, and this chandelier.

Another Busy Weekend

Another busy weekend. The kids in Hillel, came over for Sukkot & Shabbot on Friday. Friday night Larry (15) played in the marching band at the HS football game.

Saturday morning was the university's homecoming parade, and Larry marched again. Then we went to the football game, and then a block party, while Larry went with the band to a marching band competition & they tied for 1st place, and he got home 12am.

Sunday I bought new dining room set to be delivered by Thanksgiving, and then we took William (8) to see Weird Al Yankovick in concert, & we got back stage passes. Woo Hoo!

Some bad news: My MIL was diagnosed with breast cancer. She had it 32 years ago. She was scheduled to have her breast removed Oct 9. She's been so preoccupied, she spilled hot coffee & scalded her leg. Then... She got into a car accident & broke her sternum. I'm scared for her. She's a survivor, but at 70 how much can she take?
